By Tapiwa.
If only I could build four walls
To surround me
A sanctuary
My personal monastery
To sit in silence and seek retribution
For my tainted soul
To understand this esoteric nature
That resides within me
To lay to rest
This suffocating feeling of disdain
To be one with every element
And nothing that exists in this dimension
Silence in isolation
Birthing complete peace
If only I could build four walls.
Tapiwa. is a Botswana-based poet whose evocative verses are meant to bring light to the hidden challenges of mental health and recovery in Botswana.
