By Kate Mangope
You were my home
Your arms my safety net that I came home to each night
Your fingers that swept my tears
Your lips that whispered me reassurance and promises of your love
My heart cracks more each day I don’t get to call out to you
Mom
It cracks more as I have to figure things out myself
It cracks more as I have to soothe myself each night
I am abandoned, alone,
Homeless.
