Burning Passion

By Gae Maduo

I used to write poems for my ancestors,

We would chant them under the stars

To the ravenous flames of a bonfire.

Then I was told

That it was evil to sing

In praise of the dead.

Now I write love songs for the moon,

I recite them under the stars in your eyes

To the ravenous flames you awaken in me.

Gae Maduo is an aspiring entrepreneur that studied Finance. However, her true passion has always been writing. She has been crafting fictional literary works for as long as she can recall. Before she could write well enough, she used to draw her characters and stories. Writing has contributed immensely to her mental health and general personal development. When she is not working or writing, she is reading Jane Austen books or playing Scrabble or 30 Seconds. Her goal is to have more of her work published locally and internationally. In the great words of every writer out there, she also wishes to write more often.
